I paid $ 40 for new mines. Use only water. I use to clean my work area (exit spray nozzle and wipe off) with a towel. The steam will kill all bacteria and Closed dirt / grease. I use mine to clean my stove and fridge. I love the cleanliness of floors (I use an old cloth diaper). I have not tried it on the carpet. I use it on wood and linoleum. It also cleans windows and sticky dirt. I clean my garbage cans and toilets with him. As you can see, I love my steam cleaner:)
